Assessment Types & Reports
Psychological/Psycho-educational Assessment & Report
This will include a cognitive assessment, an assessment of achievements in reading, spelling, writing and mathematics, and an interview with parents/carers. It can be used to access: resource teaching support hours; reasonable accommodations (RACE); the disability access route to education (DARE), and the Disability Support Services in third level colleges.
ASD Assessments
The Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule-Second Edition (ADOD-2), The Behaviour Assessment System for Children-Third Edition (BASC-3), and the Gilliam Autism Rating Scale- Third Edition (GARS-3) are the standardised diagnostic instruments used in the ASD assessments. They form part of a comprehensive evaluation that also includes diagnostic interviews with the clients/carers/significant others. These assessments also include a cognitive assessment, using the Wechsler Intelligence Scales (WPPSI-4, WISC-5, WAIS-4) and an assessment of attainments in literacy and numeracy, using the WAIS-3.
Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD/ADD) Assessments
The Behaviour Assessment System for Children: Third Edition (BASC-3), the Working Memory Rating Scale, and the DSM-5 criteria for ADHD are the diagnostic instruments used in ADHD assessments. These form part of a comprehensive evaluation which also includes diagnostic interviews with the clients/carers/significant others. These assessments also include a cognitive assessment using the Wechsler Intelligence Scales (WPPSI-4, WISC-5, WAIS-4), and an assessment of attainments in literacy and numeracy, using the WAIS-3. .
In-service training courses for teachers on classroom management, management of students with ADHD and other behavioural disorders, and classroom management of students with Autism Spectrum Disorders.
Assessment Reports
Reports will include a detailed description of the cognitive abilities and academic achievements of the student, and a suite of recommendation to help the teachers and parents. This report will be issued within 2 weeks of the assessment. These reports can be used to determine the students` eligibility to access: resource teaching support hours, reasonable accommodations in state examinations (RACE), and the disability access route to education (DARE).
